Be sure to keep HARI Coconut-Derived Activated Charcoal on hand at all times to aid in digestion or the elimination of toxins. Activated charcoal is not only safe for pet birds, but is especially beneficial for budgies, canaries, finches and other small birds.
In the suspected case of heavy metal poisoning, drug overdose, or toxin ingestion, activated charcoal can absorb toxins and help eliminate them quickly.
Charcoal, an excellent digestive aid, is not part of the daily diet of pet birds. It should be offered in small quantities inside the cage: the bird will consume it only when needed. In case of overconsumption, remove the charcoal from the bird and consult a veterinarian as this behavior may indicate a health problem.
