The Nutrafin Nitrate Test Kit (0.0-110.0) measures nitrate levels in freshwater and saltwater aquariums.
Nitrate should be checked regularly to indicate the level of pollution in the aquarium and to decide if a water change is necessary.
Nitrate is the product of the nitrification process, which represents the last stage of the nitrogen cycle. While a nitrate level of 100 ppm is usually not fatal, high nitrate levels can lead to algal blooms and developmental delays in fish, in addition to stressing them.
It is best to avoid such a situation. In freshwater aquariums, it is recommended to maintain an average nitrate level below 10 ppm; in saltwater aquariums this should be less than 5 ppm. To ensure a stable nitrate level, test the water once a week.
The kit allows up to 80 tests
