The world's oldest dog in recent years died in Japan on December 5, 2011.

Japan, accustomed to human longevity records, has recorded the death of another kind of dean: the oldest dog in the world left us at the age of 26 years and nine months.

The world's oldest dog has died in Japan aged 26.

Pusuke, a cross male, passed away peacefully on Monday afternoon in Sakura, Tochigi Prefecture.
He was recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records in December 2011 as the oldest living dog on the planet.  His owner, Yumiko Shinohara, said his beloved pet showed a good appetite and kept up with his two walks a day until Monday morning.
But he suddenly refused to eat and had breathing problems.  He died in the afternoon just five minutes after Ms. Shinohara returned home from a walk.
According to MSN India, the 42-year-old housewife said, "I think (Pusuke) waited for me to come home."  Pusuke was born in March 1985.
The previous record was held by a 28-year-old beagle who died in the United States in 2003.

His animal had been recognized last year as  the more  Old World Dog by Guinness Book of Records .

According to, always in The Guinness there would be a dog that would have lived longer.

Oldest dog to win Crufts Best In Show.

This is a Flat-coated retriever, SH CH Vbos The Kentuckian (aka Jet), owned by Jim Irvine of Edinburgh, Scotland, UK, was chosen as Best in Show at Crufts held at the NEC Arena from Birmingham on March 13, 2011 at the age of 9 195 days.

He had already won the Best in Breed award at the show in 2008. Vbos The Kentuckian was descended from 1980 Best in Show winner Ch. Shargleam Blackcap. At the other end of the scale, the youngest dog to win the Best in Show award at Crufts to date is the bulldog CH Noways Chuckles, owned by Mr John T Bernard, who won the top prize on 9 February 1952 at the age of 1 year 115 days.

A Bulldog, CH Noways Chuckles, owned by Mr John T Bernard of Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, UK, was voted Best in Show at Crufts held at Olympia, London, on 9th February 1952 aged 1 year 115 days .

She is the only bulldog to ever receive the prestigious accolade.
